What this policy covers

This policy covers this website and our marketing — what happens when you visit countabl.io, run a calculator, download a model, subscribe to Notes, or ask us for a proposal.

It does not govern the financial data we handle for you during an engagement. Once you hire us, your books, bank feeds, payroll, and documents are governed by your engagement letter with us. In that work we act on your instructions, not on our own account. If you have questions about how we handle engagement data, ask us directly — we’ll answer them.

Countabl serves businesses. This site is intended for business use, not for personal, family, or household use.

The calculators collect nothing

The calculators on countabl.io run entirely in your browser. The cash balance, burn rate, revenue, and cap table figures you type are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. Close the tab and they’re gone. You can run every calculator on this site without giving us anything.

What we collect

Your email address, in three places: to download a model, to subscribe to Notes, or to request a scoped proposal.

More, if you request a proposal. That form asks for your name, your company, your annual revenue range, which accounting system you use, your timeline, which projects you’re interested in, and any notes you add. We ask because we can’t scope work without it.

Information about your visit. This site runs on HubSpot, which sets cookies recording the pages you view, where you arrived from, your IP address and the approximate location derived from it, and your browser and device type.

If you later give us your email address, that visit history gets linked to it — so we can see which pages you read before you reached out. We use it to have a more useful first conversation.

Booking a call. Booking runs through Calendly. What you enter there goes to Calendly under their privacy policy, and we receive the booking details.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell your information. We don’t share it with anyone for their own marketing.

We don’t run advertising pixels. There’s no Google Analytics, no Meta or LinkedIn ad pixel, and no session recording anywhere on this site.

Two things load from other companies’ servers, and both can see your IP address when they do: fonts served by Google on every page, and the share buttons on Notes pages, which load code from Facebook and X. Those are sharing widgets rather than ad trackers, but they’re third-party code and you should know they’re there.

How we use what we collect

To reply to you. To send you the thing you asked for. To send Notes if you subscribed — every one has an unsubscribe link. To scope and quote work. To understand which pages are doing their job.

Who else sees it

The companies we use to run the site and our business: HubSpot, which hosts this site and holds our contact records; Calendly, for booking; and Google, for email and document storage. Each gets only what it needs.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it.

If Countabl is ever acquired or merged, our records would transfer as part of the business.

Your rights

Whether or not a particular privacy law covers you, you can ask us to tell you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, send you a copy, or stop emailing you. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link in it.

Email taylor@countabl.io. We’ll respond within 30 days, or tell you if we need longer. We may need to verify who you are first, particularly on a deletion request. We won’t charge you and we won’t treat you differently for asking.

How long we keep it

Until you ask us to delete it, or until we no longer need it. If you unsubscribe, we keep a record of that so we don’t email you again by accident.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold, and we limit who on our team can see it. No system is perfectly secure, and we’re not going to claim ours is.

Children

This site is intended for business use. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under sixteen.

Links to other sites

This site links out to others. Once you click through, their privacy practices apply and ours don’t.

Changes

We’ll update this policy as our business changes, and update the date at the top when we do.
